This is one fabulous garden antiquity. A wellhead, brought to the US in 1907 to grace the front of an Italian inspired home by the architect/owner George Rheinfrank. The depicted scene is the famous "Rape of the Sabine Women". Still beautiful after all these years despite layers of softly worn paint. An unbelievable find. A-typical from the giant wellheads seen on the market today. 26 3/4" across x 20 3/4"h. A truly wonderful find from the 16th century or before. Please contact us with any questions. Timeline as per a former Curator of Antiquities from MOMA. Can be purchased with our without 20th century pedestal.
Crating cost 500.00 - 750.00 (if pedestal is included. Please contact us for an insured shipping quote.
